COLUMBUS, Ga. -- School children at a west Georgia elementary school have designed a T-shirt in memory of the victims of the December school shooting in Newtown, Conn.

The students at New Mountain Hill Elementary School in the Columbus area are donating proceeds to the Newtown Memorial Fund, which helps support the victims and families of the December school shooting at Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown, Conn. The Dec. 14 shootings left 20 children dead.

Students in Alison Hurst's fourth-grade class at the Georgia school not only designed the shirts, but wrote persuasive essays to encourage people to buy them. They also used their math skills to track the sales.
