Marietta police looking for SUV in cop car hit & run

MARIETTA, Ga. -- The Marietta Police Department needs help finding a vehicle that collided with a Marietta police car early Friday morning.

Officer Michael Gardner said the crash happened around 4:00a.m., when a Marietta Police Officer was on routine patrol on North Marietta Parkway at Church Street.

A vehicle ran a red light, and was hit by the officer's patrol car. The collision caused extensive damage to the patrol car, but the officer was not hurt.

Police believe the suspect's vehicle is a silver Jeep Cherokee or Grand Cherokee with tinted windows. The SUV was last seen travelling northbound on Kennesaw Avenue. It has damage to the right rear area.
