ATLANTA -- Three people, including a 7-month-old infant, were killed in two separate incidents on Metro Atlanta highways Friday morning.
In Rockdale County, police said initial indications were that two vehicles were racing in the westbound lanes of Interstate 20 near Salem Road when one of the vehicles -- a Honda Accord -- lost control and hit a guardrail before moving across the westbound lanes, where it was struck by a westbound Chevrolet pickup truck.
Police said two passengers in the Honda were killed, and the driver injured. They said two people in the pickup were hurt.
The passengers in the Honda were Edi Rodriguez, 19, from Morgan County, Ga., and a 7-month-old baby. The driver of the Honda, Kyrie Anderson, 22, from Madison and both people in the Chevrolet -- Jody Richardson, 34, from Bowdon and Terry Chaney, 48, from Carrollton -- were hurt in the wreck.
Investigators said the driver of the vehicle believed to be racing with the Honda has been identified and will be interviewed as a part of their investigation.
In another accident, a single vehicle wrecked on the northbound ramp from Interstate 75 to Moore's Mill Road in northwest Atlanta.
Police said the motorist in that wreck did not make the curve on the exit ramp and went into a grassy area and hit a tree and a road sign. The car overutned and the driver was killed.
The names of the victims have been withheld pending notification of relatives.
