The song was written to pay homage to Vedo's mother who died of cancer, earlier this year but it was also fitting for the occasion, as it addressed both loss and survival.
According to the final tally, the telethon raised about $57,000 toward the relief of displaced families in Moore, OK and surrounding areas.
According to 11Alive Help Desk reporter Bill Liss, $57,000 can purchase food and shelter for 1 day for 11,040 people, 11,400 blankets and 5,700 hot meals. Donations ranged between $10 and $5,000.
To donate $10 to The Salvation Army text the word "STORM" to 80888. Or to contribute $10 the Red Cross text "REDCROSS" 90999.
