DEKALB COUNTY, Ga. -- Fire crews rescued one person from a burning home near Redan Road in Lithonia on Thursday evening.
According to DeKalb County Fire, the blaze started on the 1100 block of Cherokee Heights. Fire officials pulled the entrapped person from the home to safety. No injuries have been reported, at this time.
The home is described as a one story home and authorities say no other homes were involved in the blaze. Minimal damage was reported on the home affected by the blaze. Investigators have not yet released to cause of the fire.
Authorities noted that they attempted to rescue a number of "mean" dogs in the rear of the house. No word of whether or not the dogs were harmed during the incident.
