STONE MOUNTAIN, Ga. -- More than 100 general managers and store managers with HoneyBaked Ham gathered around tables to make 4,000 summer lunches for children in need on Wednesday.
Employees from across the country made the volunteer service project for the Action Ministries Smart Lunch, Smart Kid program a key part of their national managers conference.
From now until the end of summer vacation, Smart Lunch, Smart Kid - with the help of volunteers - is providing healthy meals and educational enrichment opportunities to children in need during the summer months in communities across Georgia.
According to Feeding America, 24 percent of the children in DeKalb County and 26 percent of the children in Fulton County are at risk of hunger.
HoneyBaked Ham also made a financial donation to support Smart Lunch, Smart Kid.
On Saturday, Action
Ministries will try to set a record by setting up sandwich-making stations for
volunteers at five different sites across metro Atlanta.
