With all the rainy weather we've had this summer, weekend events have been a bust! However, this weekend's forecast predicts sunny skies and the Help Desk has a few outdoor activities for you to enjoy!

First, check out the "11th annual Summer Shade Festival" in Grant Park on Saturday, August, 24 from 10am - 10pm and Sunday August 25 from 11am - 7:30pm. Over the course of both days, the festival gets 30,000 visitors on average. The festival will have an artist market, two stages of live music, tasty treats to eat and drink and special activities for children like arts and crafts. There will also be storytellers and musicians on the kid's stage. The festival is organized by and benefiting the Grant Park Conservancy. General admission is free and open to the public!

Don't forget to stop by the "City of Kennesaw's Pigs & Peaches BBQ Festival" on Friday, August 23 at 6:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m. and Saturday, August 24 at 10:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. Here you'll enjoy smoke-cooked barbecue and sweet peaches. There will be a Georgia Barbecue Championship contest; as well as a Backyard BBQ, Anything Butt and Peach Dessert Contest with over $15,000 in cash and prizes for contest winners. Also, experience live music, a family entertainment stage, a Kid Zone featuring inflatables, interactive games, activities and a festival atmosphere of arts and crafts! This event is free and open to the public.
Lastly, go wild at the "7th Annual Big Haynes Creek Wildlife Festival" held on the Grand Prix Plaza at the Georgia International Horse Park! The Wildlife Festival promotes the excitement of the outdoors while displaying exhibits, guest speakers, children's activities, stage performances and arts and crafts. It is named a top 20 Event in the Southeast during the month of August by the Southeast Tourism Society. The festival is scheduled for August 24-25, 2013 and will be open to the public from 10 a.m.-5 p.m. each day. The admission fee is $5.00 per person (children ages 4 and under are free) and tickets can be purchased at the gate. Parking is free. No pets are allowed.
