JEFFERSON, Ga. -- The Jackson County Sheriff's Office shut down a healthcare facility in Jefferson late Thursday afternoon.
The facility is located on Terrell Lane, and is owned by a man and his wife, Sheriff Janis G. Mangum said. The couple houses and cares for 11 - 13 patients in the space.
When a search warrant was carried out Thursday, several state violations were found. The operation was shut down by the Sheriff's office, which seized computers and boxes of documents including bank records.
Mangum said all patients were safely taken to family members.
Authorities along with Adult Protection Services and agencies will continue investigating the operation.
