LAWRENCEVILLE, Ga. -- Gwinnett County approved a contract on Tuesday that will remove sediment and improve water quality in Pounds Lake near Lilburn.
According to Gwinnett County, the project will cost about $1.8 million and will be executed by the Astra Grading and Pipe LLC.
"The lake has been filled in by sediment over the years, reducing stormwater storage and the ability to capture sediments," said Water Resources Director Ron Seibenhener.
"Restoration projects like this one are a key component of our overall approach to improving water quality in our lakes and streams."
The project includes dam repairs and will help remove sediment from the lake bed.
