RENO, Nev. (AP) -- A doctor who was shot at a Reno hospital complex by a suicidal gunman who killed her colleague and wounded a third person is now conscious but remains in critical condition.
Renown Regional Medical Center identified the wounded physician Wednesday as Dr. Christine Lajeunesse.
Police say she and 20-year-old Shawntae Spears each were shot one time by the man who killed Dr. Charles Gholdonian before turning a 12-guage shotgun on himself Tuesday at the doctors' urology office.
Spears' condition improved Wednesday from critical to serious.
Police have not released the name of the shooter. Witnesses say he warned patients and their children in a waiting area to "get out" before opening fire along the examination rooms on the third floor of a medical office building.
