DECATUR, Ga. -- More than two dozen DeKalb County parents were arrested for failure to send their kids to school. Some of those children have more than one hundred unexcused absences.
DeKalb County Police officers arrested ten parents during a sweep called "Operation Back in School". The parents are charged with educational neglect.
Since last year, police charged over 300 parents for having children with anywhere from eleven to 140 unexcused absences.
Police say that parents were given numerous opportunities to resolve those issues. Police are still searching for about 40 parents with outstanding warrants.
