The Last Straw: The Interview

ATLANTA -- With millions of dollars already invested in "The Last Straw," Robert Stribling is trying to convince juice-makers to buy into his idea.

Stribling and his 7-year-old daughter Emily appeared on 11 Alive News Saturday Today to talk about his invention, a spill-proof straw for juice boxes and pouches.

"It's taken five years already," Stribling said. "Hopefully we'll have this on the market before Emily's in high school."

After seeing the messes made by his daughter's juice boxes, Stribling invented a straw that doesn't spill.

Emily demonstrated the straw live on the set Saturday morning. "See it won't spill," she said. "Even when I squeeze it."

Emily said her friends think the last straw is cool. "I think it should be on every juice box in the nation," she said.

Her dad agrees, and that's his mission.

"I think the brands that adopt it would be a huge hit for moms," he said. "Moms all tell me the same thing: `That's a great idea.'"
