
ATLANTA - After searching the rubble pile twice overnight with specially-trained dogs and cameras, Atlanta fire officials said they haven't found any victims of Monday's partial collapse of a parking garage in Midtown Atlanta.
Early Tuesday morning, they invited photographers in to the building for the first time for a brief look at the extent of the damage.
The collapse happened at about 12:30 p.m. at the Centergy Parking Garage on Spring Street near 5th Street.
Personnel from a number of metro fire departments first used lumber to support and stabilize the structure before beginning a car-to-car search.
They were accompanied by cadaver dogs as well as live-victim search dogs. So far, no victims have been found. Fire Chief Kevin
Cochran said earlier it was "miraculous" there were no reports of injuries.
A spokesman for the search and rescue operations that have continued non-stop since the collapse.
About 35 cars were crushed. Tuesday morning, some of those automobile were hauled away from the building overnight.
Monday afternoon, J..P. Spillane, Atlanta police assistant commander of the zone where the deck is located, said there were signs of bolts popping on the other side and he was worried about "the entire soundness of the structure."
The cause of the collapse was not immediately known.
