ATLANTA (AP) -- Georgia Tech forward Kammeon Holsey is preparing for knee surgery which will force him to miss the 2009-10 basketball season.
Holsey, a 6-foot-8 freshman from Sparta, Ga., will have surgery on Tuesday to repair a torn anterior cruciate ligament in his right knee. He suffered the injury while playing basketball on Aug. 1, the school announced on Monday.
Georgia Tech coach Paul Hewitt said the injury "is obviously a blow to Kam" but said a full recovery is expected.
Holsey is part of a freshman class ranked among the best in the nation. He led Hancock Central High School to the Class A state championship in 2008.
