Looking For Something To Do This Weekend?

ATLANTA -- If you are like me, they you are wondering what to do for your weekend. We'll we put together a great list, like we do every week, of weekend events that encompass the full spectrum that our area has to offer.

Now, I really spent some time on this one, since Friday is my birthday and I'm off all weekend. So, my selfish actions are your gain.

And on top of that I found a few birthday events... (Who knew?):

The Fernbank Museum of Natural History is throwing a Dinosaur Birthday Bash on Saturday. (Just call me a T-Rex).

Centennial Olympic Park's Fourth Saturday Family Fun Day happens again this weekend from noon to 4 p.m. It's an afternoon of free family fun.

The Southern Trilogy Hosts "Trilogy Trolley Crawl" rolls through Roswell Saturday starting at 7 p.m. on the grounds of three historic homes: Barrington Hall, Bulloch Hall and Smith Plantation. Tickets are $30 in advance and $35 at the door and include three drink tickets and three sampler plate tickets.

Monet Water Lilies wraps up its run this weekend at the High Museum of Art.

The American I Am exhibit continues its run at the Atlanta Civic Center.

Kidsignments wraps up its week long semi-annual kids consignment sale at the Gwinnett County Fairgrounds Saturday with most items marked down 50 percent.

The Intergalactic Bead & Jewelry Show returns to the Gwinnett Convention Center Saturday and Sunday. Check the Gwinnett Center or Bead Show websites for more information.

The Riverside Farmers Market in Roswell is open this Saturday at 8 a.m. Locally grown produce, jams, jellies, crafts, and other goods will be on sale. The market is located at 575 Riverside Road and as always, it's free to park and shop.

Piedmont Park's Green Market kicks off again this Saturday from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the 12th Street Entrance. The event is free.

The Atlantic Station Market once again runs Friday through Sunday.

Atlanta Motor Speedway brings some speedy deals starting Thursday as they host the Sweet Repeats Consignment Sale. The event is open daily through Saturday. From furniture to books to baby items, they have it all.

Hotel for Dogs plays Saturday at International Park in Clayton County as part of the Movie Under the Stars series. The free movie starts at dusk.

And wouldn't you know, I actually found someone else throwing a big birthday bash Friday. Smithe's Old Bar is celebrating Kerri's Birthday Bash! with Marc Lawson, Noah Collins, Shane Mead, and Rufus Ray. But of course, that's not the biggest thing hitting the stage this weekend.

Last weekend we marked the 40th anniversary of Woodstock. This weekend we mark the 40th anniversary of Abbey Road at the Variety Playhouse on Saturday with Abbey Road Live!

The infamous Jonas Brothers take the stage at Philips Arena Saturday at 7 p.m. Check the Arena's website for details.

Verizon Wireless Amphitheatre at Encore Park is busy this weekend. Friday O.A.R. with Brett Dennen takes the stage at 8 p.m. STS9 with Ghostland Observatory, Bassnectar, Lotus, Dubconscious plus Alex B (of PNUMA), Dark Party featuring Eliot Lipp & Leo 123 take over on Saturday night starting at 5 p.m. And Sunday, Big & Rich with Cowboy Troy, Craig Morgan, Love & Theft and Bombshel kicks it starting at 7 p.m.

Peter Cetera takes over The Fred Friday and Saturday nights with gates opening at 7 p.m. and Cetera taking the stage at 9 p.m. Check the Frederick Brown Jr. Amphitheater website for ticket details.

Dora the Explorer is stepping out into the non-animated world for seven performances at the Fox from Friday to Sunday. Check the Fox Theatre's website for ticket details.

The 2009 Freedom Concert takes over the Gwinnett Arena Saturday with doors opening at 5:30 p.m. Tickets start at $45. Check the Gwinnett Center website for details.

STS9 (Sound Tribe Sector 9) plays the Tabernacle on Friday night. A day earlier than their appearance at Encore Park.

Randy Owen plays the Anderson Music Hall at the Georgia Mountain Fairgrounds in Hiawassee Friday. Check the Fairgrounds website for full details.

Norman Brown Summer Storm... A Tribute to Wayman Tisdale plays the Mable House Barnes Amphitheatre Saturday.

Greg Fitzsimmons of VH1's Best Week Ever fame plays six shows Thursday to Saturday at the Punchline. Tickets vary depending on date and time.

The Laughing Skull brings a show that just stepped off Off-Broadway, so we hear it's pretty green, with eight performances Thursday through Sunday. This one is for the adults only. Visit the Vortex Comedy Club for details.

The Atlanta Sports world is hopping:

The Atlanta Braves host the Florida Marlins this weekend at Turner Field. Once again, Friday night is Fireworks night and there are concerts scheduled after each game this weekend, so check the Braves website for details.

The Gwinnett Braves come back from Norfolk, VA on Saturday to take on the Charlotte Knights at the Gwinnett Stadium. Saturday, the American Legion of Duluth will be collecting items for the troops such as SPF lotion (for hot sun), baby wipes, waterless hand cleanser, packs of Kleenex tissue, envelopes and cards, pens & paper for correspondence, pre-paid phone cards, trail mix, and nuts. Sunday, Harry "The Hat" Walker will formally be inducted into the International League Hall of Fame. Stay after the game to have the kids run the bases. And Monday is a doubleheader.

The Rome Braves are at their home at the State Mutual Stadium. Friday they host the Charleston Riverdogs on Football Giveaway night where the first 1,000 fans 14 and under get a free football. Saturday the Savannah Sand Gnats come to play as well as the Birdzerk! Appearance. They stick around until Monday to round out the series.

The U.S. Army Corky Kell Classic kicks off it's 17th year at the Georgia Dome with eight area high school football teams pitted against each other all to raise money for the Corky Kell Scholarship Fund. Check the Georgia Dome website for ticket and parking details as well as the team matchups.

The Atlanta Dream hosts Los Angeles Sunday at Philips Arena beginning at 3 p.m. Check the Arena website for details.

The 11th Annual World MasterAthlete Judo Championships kicks off Wednesday for five full days of matches. Tickets are $7 per day or $25 for the full five days. Check the Atlanta Judo Midtown website for full details.

It's Super Bike Motorcycle Show-N-Shine at Atlanta Motor Speedways as part of the Friday Night Drags. Check the AMS website for admission details. Also at AMS, the Sports Car Club of America returns Saturday and Sunday to conduct time trials at Atlanta Motor Speedway on Saturday and Sunday.

The Georgia Tech Collegiate Mountain Bike Race rolls into the Georgia International Horse Park in Conyers Saturday and Sunday. Check the GIHP website for details.
