Woman Killed In Athens, Suspect Found Dead

ATHENS -- Police in Athens said a 20-year-old woman was shot to death at a shopping center near the University of Georgia campus, and the man suspected of shooting her was found dead in Oglethorpe County.

Athens-Clarke County police said that Kendra Borders, 20, was found dead in the parking lot of the Shops of South Athens shopping center on South Milledge Avenue. They said the man suspected in the shooting, Michael Wise, 25, was found dead a short time later in Oglethorpe County, from an apparently self-inflicted gunshot wound.

Police on the UGA campus had locked down the campus after the initial reports of Borders' shooting, and while they were searching for Wise Thursday afternoon.
