Marietta To Vote On New Fire Station

MARIETTA, Ga. (AP) -- The Cobb Board of Commissioners is expected this week to approve steps toward a new fire station.

Commissioners will take action Tuesday on a contract with
Hensler & Beavers General Contractors Inc. for the construction of Fire Station 30.

Cobb spokesman Robert Quigley says the fire station was closed in the early 1990s after the widening of Austell Road took up a large portion of the station's driveway.

Fire Station 30 is one of the oldest fire stations in the county. The existing building will be demolished and a completely new building will be erected at the new site.

The county hopes to open the new $1.4 million fire station
shortly after the road expansion project at the Windy Hill and
Macland corridor is completed.
