LAWRENCEVILLE, Ga. -- A fire gutted a modular classroom at a Gwinnett County elementary school early Saturday morning.

According to Gwinnett County Fire and Emergency Services spokesman Captain Tommy Rutledge, someone passing by Cedar Hill Elementary School a little before 3:30 a.m. saw the fire and called 911. Fire crews arrived to find one of the trailers on fire.  It took firefighters a half hour to get the fire under control.

Fire investigators said that the fire completely destroyed one classroom trailer and caused damage to the outside of another trailer nearby. They said that fire does not appear suspicious and are looking at it possibly starting near the heating unit.

The classrooms houses second-grade students at the school. School officials said those students will be relocated to other portable classrooms already on site.
