RESEARCH TRIANGLE PARK, NC -- Sony Ericsson plans to close its North American headquarters in North Carolina and move it to Atlanta.
It will possibly generate 120 white collar jobs.
According to the "Atlanta Business Chronicle," the relocation is part of a global restructuring.
Sony Ericsson is combining its North America region and its Latin America region, which is based in Miami, to create Region Americas in Atlanta.
The consolidation comes a year after the company announced a company-wide cost-cutting plan that led to a 20-percent workforce reduction, or about 2,000 jobs.
