Expensive hair cuts are a distant memory for many men and women who have lost their jobs this year. Carter Barnes Salon Owner Carey Carter said he and his staff have heard the same story from many clients. "They call us and say I'm going to have to quit coming because I lost my job," he said.
The Buckhead salon owner who has frequently been recognized for his charity work has organized an event called Carter Barnes Beauty Boost to be held on Monday, December 14th. 250 men and women who are victims of the recession will be chosen to get free haircuts and hair color and even Botox injections for some from a local plastic surgeon. "We thought it would be a nice holiday thing to do for those who are out of work, having financial problems or victims of the flood," said Carter. He said a career coach will be on hand to help with resumes and interview skills. The salon will be closed to the public on Beauty Boost day and all participants will donate their time.
Those who'd like to receive a makeover can apply on a special page on Carterbarnes.com that will be launched November 27th. The salon is requesting applicants send a letter describing their financial struggles along with a photo.
Beauty Boost will be held at Carter Barnes Phipps Plaza location at 3500 Peachtree Road, Atlanta 30326. (404) 233-0047
