Wipro Adds Atlanta Jobs

(Atlanta Business Chronicle)-- Wipro Technologies plans to grow in its Atlanta development center.

Wipro said Monday its Atlanta Development Center has grown to 350 employees in the last nine months. About 80 percent were hired locally.

The new employees will support North American companies in the health-care, manufacturing, telecommunications, utilities, retail and financial services sectors.

Wipro Technologies, a unit of Wipro Limited (NYSE: WIT), is a global IT services organization.

On Nov. 13, Atlanta Business Chronicle reported Wipro had signed a new 19,000-square-foot office lease and bringing 180 new jobs to Piedmont Center 4. Wipro is housing its business process outsourcing unit in Piedmont Center 4. The lease was for six years.

Wipro has said it plans to employ 500 people in Buckhead. But the expansion has been delayed by the economy. Wipro already has about 35,000 square feet in Eola Capital's Piedmont Center 14.
