COLLEGE PARK, Ga. -- The driver of a motorcycle was caught on Roosevelt Highway near Green Springs Road in College Park after leading the Georgia State Patrol and other metro Atlanta law enforcement agencies on a high speed chase.
The chase began on the surface streets of West Atlanta and continued on I-285.
The chase could be seen from 11Alive's SkyCam. The motorcyclist, who didn't appear to be wearing a helmet, was seen weaving in and out of traffic and reached a high rate of speed on I-285, passing several cars.
Troopers from the Georgia State Patrol and other law enforcement agents were able to stop the motorcyclist by boxing him in along Roosevelt Highway.
Once boxed in, the driver of the motorcycle swerved off the road, into a grassy area, where he lost control and laid down the bike.
After crashing the bike, the motorcyclist initially stood up to face authorities, then immediately laid down on the ground with his hands extended. He was then taken into custody by the Georgia State Patrol.
The motorcyclist did not appear to be seriously injured after the crash.
The circumstances that led to the chase were not immediately reported.
