(Atlanta Business Chronicle)-- Air travel is predicted to be down this Thanksgiving, but low-cost carrier AirTran Airways Inc. said Wednesday it expects an up tick in traffic.
The Orlando, Fla.-based airline, which has its largest hub at Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport, said travel from Nov. 23 through Nov. 30 should be up 5 percent over last Thanksgiving.
AirTran (NYSE: AAI) said it would accommodate 600,000 passengers for turkey day travel. The busiest days of travel are expected to be Nov. 25, Nov. 29 and Nov. 30.
The Air Transport Association of America has predicted an overall decline of 4 percent for the traditionally busy holiday travel period.
