DUNWOODY, GA -- It has happened two nights in a row in Dunwoody. Two men wearing masks and jumpsuits commandeer fast food restaurants and terrorize employees at gunpoint.
Dunwoody police aren't officially saying the two armed robberies were committed by the same suspects, but they say the similarities are to close to ignore.
On Monday night the two men rushed into the Burger King on Chamblee Dunwoody Road with guns drawn. One suspect pointed his gun at the manager and the other suspect jumped the counter to corral the other employees. "Several times they had a gun put to their head (the employees), put to their sides, they were escorted around the business with the gun to their side, it's got to be frightening," said Dunwoody Police Detective Kelly Gobely.
Video surveillance cameras caught the whole robbery on tape. On the video, one of the suspects is seen cleaning out the cash drawers and then pointing a gun to the head of the manager. The other suspect is seen jumping the counter and walking into the kitchen and pointing a gun directly at an employee.
The video also shows the two suspects rounding up all the employees and marching them into a freezer. One suspect is then seen closing the freezer door and locking it. The very next night on Tuesday, a very similar robbery happened at a McDonalds on Cottillion Drive. Dunwoody Police have photographs from surveillance cameras in that robbery and there are many similarities to the Burger King robbery the night before. "Again, one of the male suspects grabbed the manager and escorted her throughout the business," Det. Gobely said describing the similarities. "The other suspect jumped the counter and tried to corral the employees in a central area."
In both cases there were two suspects who wore dark colored jump suits and ski masks over their heads. Police got lucky after the second robbery. Two patrol officers were having dinner across the street from the McDonalds. When the robbery call came into police headquarters the patrol officer were notified. Detective Gobely said the officers arrived at the McDonalds when the suspects were running out the back door.
The two suspects ran across both east and west bound lanes of I-285 but one of them was captured. He's been identified as Saeed Nurideen, 34, of North Carolina. Nurideen's gun and jump suit were recovered after the chase according to Detective Gobely.
Dunwoody police say they will meet with Sandy Springs police who had a very similar armed robbery that happened before the Burger King robbery Monday night. They want to see if all three robberies are connected.
