TROY, Ala. (AP) -- A Georgia man is being held in Alabama's Pike County jail for allegedly trying to smuggle marijuana to an inmate in a container of Chinese food.
Court records show deputies arrested 41-year-old Edward Ridley of Cordele, Ga., and charged him Saturday with felony promoting prison contraband. He was still being held at the jail Thursday on
$7,500 bond.
Records show Ridley entered the Pike County Jail with a styrofoam container of Chinese food, including rice and shrimp, for inmate Vincent Thomas, and deputies say a jailer using a fork to search the food found a bag of marijuana.
If convicted, Ridley faces one to 10 years in prison.
