GWINNETT COUNTY, GA -- Imagine you're sitting in your living room watching television when gunshots crash through your window. It happened to a Gwinnett County family Monday morning.

The family lives on Jordan Drive off Lawrenceville Highway in Tucker. It's a quiet neighborhood and a safe neighborhood according to neighbors.

Gunfire is out of character. That's why it was so frightening when two bullets pierced the front window of the house across the street from Tim and Barbara McGuire. "The biggest thing is that it was random," Barbara McGuire said. "They could have done it to anybody."

Gwinnett County Police said she is right. "The motive remains unclear at this time," said Corporal Brian Kelly. "We don't know why these individuals targeted this family or this house."

One shot crashed through a living room window. There were ten people inside the home according to police. Eight of them were in the living room watching television, including three children ages one, two and five. According to a police incident report a bullet barely missed a one year old child.

"It doesn't appear to be a straight up robbery," said Corporal Kelly. "It doesn't appear to be a hate crime or anything of that nature. It just appears that they shot into this house for some reason known to them."

Police arrested three people who were walking along Lawrenceville Highway, near Jordan Drive. Police said they fit the description of the suspects who shot into the house. Alex Jones, 18 of Loganville, Elan Algarin, 19 of Marietta and Ceddrick Summerour, 17 of Snellville were each charged with eight counts of aggravated assault, one count of possession of a weapon and one count of criminal attempt to commit a crime.

Police found two handguns. Both had recently been fired. They also found extra ammunition, gloves and masks when they arrested the suspects. A police report said when a gun was found in the front pocket of one of the suspects pants he exclaimed "What is that? How'd that get in there?"

Corporal Kelly said the police department's gang task force is investigating whether the crime was part of a gang initiation.
