ATLANTA (AP) -- Agnes Scott College in Atlanta has received the
second largest donation in the history of the women's college.

The $2.5 million pledge comes from alumna Elizabeth Rhett Jones and her husband, Gary T. Jones. The gift is the latest in a string of gifts to the college, which has had its best fundraising year since 2004.

Jones, an attorney, said the money is meant to help Agnes Scott
become a nationally recognized leader among liberal arts colleges.

Jones graduated from Agnes Scott in 1973 and was elected to the Board of Trustees in 2004.
