Columbus, OH (Sports Network) - Trevor Murphy remained atop the leaderboard
Friday, but the second round of the Nationwide Children's Hospital
Invitational was suspended due to inclement weather.
Murphy is only 1-under par through 11 holes of the round, but is in front at
9-under par.
Former University of Virginia standout Ben Kohles (69), Casey Wittenberg (67)
and Joseph Bramlett (66) are knotted in second place at 7-under 135 at The OSU
Golf Club.
The first round was completed Friday morning after heavy storms stopped play
on Thursday. At 7:35 p.m. et, the horn sounded and 12 minutes later, play was
called for the day.
The second round is scheduled to resume at 7:30 a.m. Saturday with 51 golfers
still needing to finish the round.
Round three is scheduled to begin around 10 a.m. with players going off in
threesomes off both the first and 10th tees.
Murphy began on the first tee Friday and parred his first two holes. He
bogeyed the par-4 third, his first bogey of the tournament.
Murphy fell to 7-under par, but rebounded at the par-5 sixth. He made birdie
on that hole and followed with another birdie at the par-4 seventh to get back
to 9-under par.
He parred his last four holes before play was stopped.
Murphy is making only his second start of 2012 on the Web.com Tour. He lost
his card last year when he finished 102nd on the money list.
Camilo Benedetti (68), Michael Putnam (69), James Sacheck (70) and Michael Sim
(66) are in the clubhouse at 6-under 136. Nicholas Thompson and Steve Allan
are 6-under with a few holes to finish.
NOTES: The cut is expected to fall at 1-under par...Paul Haley II will need a
birdie on one of his last two holes if he's going to make the cut.
