New York, NY (Sports Network) - Atlanta Braves outfielder Jason Heyward was named National League Player of the Week for the week ending June 24.
In six interleague games last week, Heyward hit a league-best .522 (12-for-23) with an NL-leading 1.130 slugging percentage.
Heyward led the NL with three home runs, 12 hits, nine runs and 26 total bases. The 22-year-old hit safely in all six games, including four multi-hit efforts, and drove in five runs.
Arizona's Aaron Hill, Wade Miley, Miguel Montero and Justin Upton, Pittsburgh's Andrew McCutchen and James McDonald, Milwaukee's Aramis Ramirez, Washington's Tyler Clippard, Houston's J.A. Happ, and St. Louis' Jake Westbrook were also considered for the honor.
