The 19 year old from Columbus, Ga. was arrested last week on several weapons charges, two of which are felonies.
"We actively researched Isaiah both as a person as well as an athlete," said Alabama State head football coach Reggie Barlow. "We are aware of his current issues, but also believe in helping young people. We believe that Isaiah has learned from his circumstances and that he will be a quality student-athlete at Alabama State."
Crowell (5-11, 215) played the 2011 season at the University of Georgia, rushing for 850 yards on 185 carries with five touchdowns. He also caught eight passes for 59 yards and one touchdown in being named to the Coaches All-SEC Team, as well as earning freshman All-American honors. Crowell was also a three-time SEC Player of the Week.
