(WXIA) - Conflicting reports have emerged about the fate of a statue of former Penn State University football coach Joe Paterno on the school's campus.
Many critics of how the university and Paterno reacted to the Jerry Sandusky child sex abuse scandal insist the statue should be taken down.
Early Friday afternoon, sports reports from NFL Network and CBS Sports, citing university sources, said the statue would be taken down this weekend.
A later report from Penn State University president Rodney Erickson said no final decision had been made regarding the fate of the statue.
