DACULA, Ga. -- In honor of September 11, members of the Atlanta Falcons spent their day off with those who serve both locally and abroad.

In the morning hours, Falcons veterans visited Gwinnett County Fire Stations.

Their favorite stop was the Gwinnett Fire Academy in Dacula, where the players tried their hand at working the big water hose. Punter Matt Bosher needed some help when the water pressure was turned up. Even lineman Garrett Reynolds had to hang on tight.

Reynolds said, "I wasn't expecting it to push back. It felt like I was fighting a bullrush or something".

Tight End Michael Palmer presented the firemen and trainees with a game ball and thanked them for their service to the community.

In the afternoon, the Falcons Rookie Club visited Roberts Elementary School in Suwanee and they were joined by members of the United States Army.

The football players and servicemen all received a heroes welcome from the 5th graders. After introductions and a brief speech, the soldiers and the Falcons took seats with the students to assist them in writing letters to military members who are serving abroad.

Rookie Guard Peter Konz said, " It's always good to give back, and show the members of the military that we appraciate them from the bottom of their hearts".
