ATLANTA -- For 30 years USA Today has honored the top high school basketball teams and players. This year USA Today High School Sports.Com and American Family Insurance present the first Preseason All-Metro Atlanta High School Basketball teams.
The Preseason All-Metro Atlanta girls team was selected by 11Alive Sports.
Kaela Davis is a 6-2 senior forward at Buford High School. Last season Davis averaged 18 points, 6 rebounds, 2 assists and 2 steals per game. Kaela plays for USA Basketball and will attend Georgia Tech. Her twin brother, A. J., plays on the Buford Boys team.
Lexie Brown is a 5-9 senior point guard at North Gwinnett High School. Last season Brown averaged 19 points, 7 assists, 7 rebounds and 5 steals per game. Lexie plays for USA Basketball and will attend Maryland.
Diamond DeShields is a 6-2 senior guard at Norcross High School. Last season Daimond averaged 20 points and 7 rebounds per game. The Gatorade Player Of The Year for Georgia in 2011, DeShields has played on back to back state championship teams and plays for USA Basketball. Diamond DeShields will attend North Carolina.
Nigia Greene is a 5-11 senior guard at St. Francis High School. Last season Greene averages 18 points per game while leading the Lady Knights to a 25-6 record. Nigia Greene will attend Miami.
Kristina Nelson is a 6-4 senior center at Buford High School. Last season Kristina averaged 10 points and 6 rebounds per game, but was hampered by a shoulder injury. Kristina Nelson will attend Notre Dame.
