(Sports Network) - The Philadelphia Phillies have reportedly bolstered their
bullpen.
According to multiple reports, the Phillies have reached an agreement with
free-agent Mike Adams on a two-year, $12 million contract. The deal, which
includes a vesting option for 2015, is pending a physical.
The 34-year-old right-hander will set up for closer Jonathan Papelbon, giving
the club a formidable late-inning combination.
Adams underwent surgery in October to correct thoracic outlet syndrome, which
is caused by a rib pushing down on a nerve and results in a numbing sensation.
Since the 2008 season, he has posted a 1.98 earned run average while tossing
295 innings for San Diego and Texas.
The Sports Network
