WXIA -- The San Francisco Police Department has opened an investigation into an allegation of sexual assault involving 49er's wide receiver Michael Crabtree.
According to the SFPD, Crabtree was interviewed, with an attorney present, regarding an alleged assault that occurred at a San Francisco hotel on Sunday.
On Friday, Trent Baalke released a statement on behalf of the San Francisco 49ers saying:
"We are aware of the allegation against Michael and understand that he has fully cooperated with authorities. The 49ers take such matters very seriously. We will have no further comment at this time as the legal process is ongoing. Additional requests for comment should be directed to Michael's attorney."
Crabtree has not been detained or arrested and has agreed to all further investigation proceedings.
The San Francisco 49ers are set to play the Atlanta Falcons in the NFC Championship on Sunday at the Georgia Dome in Atlanta.
