The Region 6-AAA high school boys' matchup on Tuesday between Cedar Grove and Woodward Academy will be for first place as the host Saints look to extend their winning streak to 12 consecutive victories.

Cedar Grove has cruised to a 17-3 overall record and 9-1 in region action during the 11-game streak that began with a 65-56 win over Lithonia on December 15. The steak has moved Cedar Grove into the No. 7 spot in Class AAA by the Atlanta Journal Constitution and No. 6 in MaxPrep's poll.

Woodward enters the game at 15-4 overall, 7-1 in region play and ranked No. 10 in MaxPrep, but unranked in the AJC poll. The Eagles are the last team to defeat Cedar Grove taking a 71-65 win at Woodward on December 14.

Cedar Grove is averaging just 58.2 points per game, but a smothering defense is allowing just 46 points a contest. The Saints office is led by sophomore Christopher Frederick at 12.1 points per game.

Game time for the boys is set for 7:00 p.m. while the two girls' teams are scheduled for a 5:30 p.m. tipoff.

The No. 1 ranked Columbia teams will host Lithonia in a Region 6A-AAAA doubleheader on Tuesday. The Columbia Eagles (17-2) rebounded from their first home loss since 2004, a 73-68 defeat to No. 7 South Atlanta, with a win over Stone Mountain on Saturday to hold on to their spot atop the Class AAAA rankings. The Lady Eagles are 16-2 and winners of eight consecutive games since a loss in the finals of the Title IX Tournament in Washington D.C.

Other ranked DeKalb teams in action Tuesday include both Miller Grove teams travelling over to Southwest DeKalb in Region 6B-AAAA play. The No.
1 ranked Wolverines are undefeated in region play and boast a 19-3 record overall coming off a convincing 104-56 win against Memphis Tennessee's East High in the Hilton Invitational at Norcross last Saturday. The Lady Wolverines enter the week at No. 3 in the AJC rankings and No. 4 in MaxPrep with a 17-4 record and take on No. 9 (AJC) and No. 5 (MaxPrep) Southwest DeKalb (15-7) having won seven consecutive games.

Both Tucker teams enter the week in the Top 10 rankings as well as they travel to Dunwoody in Region 6A-AAAA. The Lady Tigers (18-3) are No. 1 in both the polls after a thrilling 46-45 victory over then No. 1 and now No.
2 ranked Stephenson (19-3) at home last week. The Tigers (13-7) are hanging tough at No. 6 (AJC) after splitting games last week.
