ATHENS, Ga. -- The Georgia soccer team's 2013 class has been ranked No. 11 nationally and No. 1 in the SEC by Top Drawer Soccer, the popular Web site announced Thursday following National Signing Day.
The Bulldogs have the highest-ranked class in the Southeastern Conference and are one of only three SEC teams in the top-20 along with Texas A&M's class at No. 15 and Auburn's at No. 20.
"On paper this is a very strong class, but ultimately they'll be judged by what they help this program accomplish over the next four years," said head coach Steve Holeman. "This is a fantastic group of young ladies who all work incredibly hard and we are thrilled they will be joining us in the fall."
The class of 11 players - which will join the program this fall - includes eight Georgia natives as well as one apiece from Alabama, Florida, and Mississippi. The class is comprised of four forwards, three midfielders, two defenders, and two goalkeepers, and will help bolster a squad that lost four starters to graduation following the 2012 season.
Four members of Holeman's 2013 class are ranked in Top Drawer Soccer's 'IMG Academy 150,' including Gabby Seiler (22), Marion Crowder (48), Jill Maloney (77), and Rachel Garcia (131).
