Fort Myers, FL (Sports Network) - Ryan Doumit went 2-for-3 with a three-run
homer and Mark Sobolewski added two hits and three RBI to lead the Minnesota
Twins to a 12-5 win over the Philadelphia Phillies on Wednesday.
Aaron Hicks went 2-for-3 with two RBI, while Trevor Plouffe and Drew Butera
added one RBI apiece for the Twins, who plated three runs in both the sixth
and seventh innings.
Wilkin Ramirez and Jeff Clement each added an RBI in the triumph.
Brian Duensing earned the win after tossing 1 2/3 perfect innings. Kevin
Correia gave up three runs -- two earned -- on five hits and struck out two
over 2 1/3 innings of work for Minnesota.
Carlos Ruiz went 2-for-2 with three RBI, while Dom Brown and Ryan Howard added
one RBI apiece for the Phillies, who missed the playoffs last season for the
first time since 2006.
Adam Morgan was charged with the loss after allowing four runs -- one earned
-- on five hits over 1 2/3 innings. John Lannan, who started for Philadelphia
allowed just one run on four hits and one walk over two innings.
