Jupiter, FL (Sports Network) - Adeiny Hechavarria went 2-for-4 with a two-run
double and Miami's bullpen quieted New York's bats as the Marlins took a 6-4
decision over the Mets in spring training play on Sunday.
Gorkys Hernandez and Christian Yelich had RBI doubles in succession during a
three-run sixth inning for Miami, which received a scoreless inning of work
from five different relief pitchers. Sam Dyson picked up the win and Evan Reed
earned his first save of the spring by striking out the side in the ninth.
New York's Brandon Hicks hit a solo homer in the third off Miami starter
Nathan Eovaldi, who was charged for three runs on two hits over 2 2/3 innings.
Former Marlin John Buck added a three-run homer for the Mets later in the
inning.
Making his second start of the spring, Dillon Gee allowed just three hits over
three scoreless frames. He had season-ending surgery in July to remove a blood
clot from his throwing shoulder.
