Clearwater, FL (Sports Network) - Roy Halladay tossed four shutout innings and
Laynce Nix had a two-run single as the Philadelphia Phillies downed the
Washington Nationals, 6-3, on Wednesday.
Recording his second win in three starts, Halladay allowed just two hits and
struck out two to outduel Nationals ace Stephen Strasburg, who took the loss
after giving up two runs on five hits in 3 2/3 innings of work. Strasburg did
strike out six batters, however.
Ryan Howard recorded his 11th RBI of the spring, Josh Fields hit a solo homer
and Michael Young and Joe Mather each plated a run for the Phillies in the
win.
Anthony Rendon had a solo homer for Washington, which also received a run
scoring double from Micah Owings and saw Carlos Rivero go 2-for-2 with an RBI.
