DOUGLASVILLE, Ga. -- People usually don't think of metro Atlanta when they think of the Winter Olympics, but Elana Meyers may change that.
The 28-year-old Douglasville native is a decorated bobsledder who has several championships under her belt.
She and teammate Erin Pac won a bronze medal in the bobsled two-woman event at the 2010 Winter Olympics in Vancouver.
Meyers also won gold and silver medals at the 2013 World Championships in St. Moritz, Switzerland. She is now poised to make the 2014 U.S. Olympic team. Some are already calling her a favorite to take home the gold.
Although Meyers is proud of her accomplishments on the bobsled track, the Lithia Springs High School graduate said the happiest moment of her life was when her boyfriend Nic proposed to her while she was on the medal stand at the recent world championships.
The couple plan to marry after the 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi, Russia.
