St. Petersburg, FL (Sports Network) - The Detroit Tigers recalled pitcher
Bruce Rondon form Triple-A Toledo Friday and optioned pitcher Evan Reed to
Rondon was expected to compete for Detroit's starting closer role, but after
making his major league debut on April 25, the 22-year-old right-hander
yielded three runs in 2 1/3 innings over three games.
Rondon was promptly optioned to Toledo, where he went 1-1 with a 1.52 earned
run average and 14 saves over 30 games with the Mud Hens.
Reed, 27, made his first big league appearance on May 16. Over six games, the
right-handed Reed allowed eight runs -- three earned -- in 10 1/3 innings of
