Miami, FL (Sports Network) - Henderson Alvarez threw 7 1/3 innings of one-run
ball and Jake Marisnick hit his first home run of his career as the Miami
Marlins defeated the New York Mets, 3-2, in the third test of a four-game
series at Marlins Park.
Alvarez (2-1) gave up two runs on six hits and two walks in his outing. The
23-year-old right-hander has allowed just two runs on 14 hits over his last
three starts. He also cotributed with the bat, going 2-for-3 with a run
Placido Polanco and Giancarlo Stanton drove in a run apiece for the Marlins,
who have the opportunity to split the series in Thursday's finale.
Ike Davis went 2-for-3 with an RBI for the Mets, who saw starter Jenrry Mejia
(1-1) surrender all three runs on six hits and one walk in six frames.
