Minneapolis, MN (Sports Network) - Jose Reyes broke a scoreless deadlock with
an RBI double in the eighth, and Esmil Rogers worked 7 2/3 blank frames, as
the Toronto Blue Jays shut out the Minnesota Twins, 2-0, Sunday to complete a
three-game sweep at Target Field.
Following his tiebreaking double, Reyes stole third and scored on Rajai Davis'
single to center to cap Toronto's two-run eighth and make a winner out of
Rodgers (5-7), who scattered three hits and a walk while striking out four to
pick up the win.
Brett Cecil and Sergio Santos combined to keep the Twins off the board after
Rodgers' exit in the eighth, while Casey Janssen worked around a one-out
single in the ninth to secure his 29th save of the season.
Jared Burton (2-9) was tagged with the loss after giving up both runs in the
eighth in relief of starter Andrew Albers, who struck out five over seven
scoreless innings of four-hit ball.
Alex Presley registered two of Minnesota's five hits, as the Twins dropped
their fourth straight contest.
