Atlanta couple gets engaged at Wrigley Field right before Cubs break curse

...

You've likely heard by now that the Chicago Cubs are World Series champions.

The Cubs overcame their myriad of curses (The Billy Goat, The Black Cat, Steve Bartman), and returned to the World Series for the first time since 1945. Then they won it, ending their 108-year drought.

So what finally broke the curse? At the risk of sounding corny, we think it was love.

An Atlanta couple traveled to Game 6 of the NLCS at Wrigley Field. Outside the stadium before the game started, Bryan Nelson got down on one knee and proposed to his girlfriend, Chantel Parker.

She said yes!

Luckily for all of us, FOX caught the whole thing on camera.

Later that evening, the Cubs defeated the Los Angeles Dodgers 5-0 to break the curses that have kept them from getting to the World Series in decades.

"Feels like we helped break the Cubs' 108 year drought," Nelson told 11Alive on Friday. "It's been an amazing few weeks."

The soon-to-be bride and groom are huge Cubs and sports fans. Nelson has lived in Atlanta since 2010 and works for a sports marketing firm. They live in Smyrna near SunTrust Park, the Atlanta Braves' new stadium.

They aren't the only ones to ever get engaged at Wrigley Field, but their timing makes us think they had something to do with the curses being broken.

Like they say, love conquers all.
