Providence, RI (Sports Network) - Douglas Davis and Ben Hazel each put in 12
points for Princeton as the Tigers took down Brown, 77-63, in an Ivy League
battle at the Pizzitola Sports Center.
Ian Hummer pulled down 11 rebounds and was a point short of a double-double
for Princeton (11-9, 2-2 Ivy League). Brendan Connolly chipped in 11 for the
Tigers who had lost two of their previous three games.
Sean McGonagill scored 17 points and handed out six assists for Brown (7-15,
1-3) which had won two of its previous three. Tyler Ponticelli scored 13 off
the bench and Matt Sullivan also added 10 for the Bears.
Both teams shot well in the first half with Princeton netting 59.4 percent of
its field goal attempts and Brown knocking down 56.0 percent of its shots.
Princeton was able to hold a comfortable 48-34 lead by outscoring the Bears
27-12 from beyond the arc.
In the second half both teams cooled off and although Brown outshot Princeton
with a 44.8 shooting percentage to the Tigers' 32.3 percent, Princeton was
able to hold on to win by outscoring the Bears 7-2 from the free throw line.
Princeton held the edge in rebounding by a 39-30 margin and also got better
scoring from its alternates as the Tigers bench outscored its counterpart
33-20.
