Clemson, SC (Sports Network) - Terrell Stoglin scored a game-high 27 points to
push the Maryland Terrapins to a 64-62 victory over the Clemson Tigers in an
Atlantic Coast Conference bout at the Littlejohn Coliseum.
Sean Mosley added 16 points and six assists for the Terrapins (14-9, 4-5 ACC),
while Ashton Pankey grabbed eight rebounds.
Andre Young paced Clemson (11-12, 3-6) with 15 points. Milton Jennings and
Devin Booker chipped in 14 points each. Booker also pulled down 12 boards and
blocked four shots while Tanner Smith handed out five assists.
Maryland led 26-22 at the intermission after it shot 43.5 percent from the
floor in the opening period. The Tigers managed to connect on just 32.3
percent of their field goals in the first half.
The Terrapins held a 53-39 advantage with just under eight minutes left to
play before Clemson put together a late rally. The Tigers trailed 64-62 with
two seconds left, but Young's game-winning three-point attempt was
unsuccessful and Clemson lost its third game in a row. The Tigers were able to
score 11 points on second chances in the final 20 minutes to narrow the
margin.
Maryland used the three-point arc to its advantage, as it shot 72.7 percent
from deep range in the contest. Clemson was held to 35 percent shooting from
beyond the arc.
