Stillwater, OK (Sports Network) - Le'Bryan Nash scored 18 points, which
included the game-winning jumper with 4.6 seconds remaining, and rejected a
shot as time expired to lift the Oklahoma State Cowboys to a 69-67 victory
over the Iowa State Cyclones in Big 12 Conference action at Gallgher-Iba
Arena.
Markel Brown scored a team-high 19 points for Oklahoma State (12-12, 5-6 Big
12), while Keiton Page added 13 points. Brian Williams chipped in 10 points
and Michael Cobbins grabbed 14 rebounds for the Cowboys.
Chris Allen contributed a game-high 22 points for Iowa State (17-7, 7-4), as
it saw its three-game winning streak come to an end. Royce White finished with
15 points, 12 rebounds and seven assists for the Cyclones.
The Cyclones held a slim 32-31 advantage at halftime after they shot 36.4
percent from the floor and went a percent 6-of-6 from the charity stripe in
the opening period. Oklahoma State made 36 percent of its field goals, but
went 10-of-12 from the foul line to stay close behind.
Iowa State trailed 63-55 with less than five minutes to play before Allen
knocked down a trio of three-pointers and White added two to make it 67-65
with 2:46 left to play. White then tied it up with 39 seconds remaining with a
pair of free throws which would set up Nash's heroics. The Cowboys shot 55.2
percent from the floor in the second half to hang on for the victory. The
Cyclones hurt themselves as they went 7-of-13 from the free throw line in the
final 20 minutes.
Iowa State held a 39-31 advantage in the rebounding battle and outscored the
Cowboys, 28-22, in the paint. The Cowboys made the most of their free shots as
they went 14-of-17 from the charity stripe en route to the win.
