Lincoln, NE (Sports Network) - Dylan Talley and Roy Gallegos each scored 14
points to lead the Nebraska Cornhuskers to a win over the Tulane Green Wave,
61-57, at Devaney Sports Center.
Gallegos knocked down two clutch free throws with three seconds left to seal
the victory for the Cornhuskers (4-0). Brandon Ubel and Andre Almeida also
scored in double figures with 12 and 10 points, respectively.
Josh Davis led Tulane (3-2) with 19 points and 13 boards. Jordan Callahan
scored 16 but shot just 1-of-4 from the foul line. The Green Wave finished
with just five assists as a team and one bench point.
The Cornhuskers led 33-28 after the opening 20 minutes thanks to a 7-of-10
showing from beyond the arc. Tulane kept it close by outscoring Nebraska on
second chance points, 9-0.
Tulane battled back to take a lead early in the second half. After eight lead
changes, Nebraska took a 59-57 lead with 1:45 remaining on an Almeida dunk.
Callahan was then fouled shooting a 3-pointer but missed all three free throw
attempts. After a Nebraska turnover, Callahan had another chance to be a hero
but his jumper was blocked with seven seconds remaining.
Both teams had 13 turnovers while Tulane lost despite a 33-26 edge in
rebounds.
