Las Cruces, NM (Sports Network) - Bandja Sy paced five teammates in double
figures with 16 points as the New Mexico State Aggies made easy work of the
Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns, 79-57, in non-conference action at Pan American
Center.
Sy shot 6-of-8 from the field and also blocked four shots for NMSU (3-3).
Tyrone Watson and Kevin Aronis each scored 12 points, K.C. Ross-Miller netted
11 points, and Tshiliszi Nephawe tallied a double-double with 10 points and 11
rebounds.
For Louisiana (2-3), Steven Wronkoski connected on 4-of-6 from three-point
range en route to 16 points, while Shawn Long added 15 points.
NMSU got out to a commanding 41-18 lead at the half behind 48.3 percent field
goal shooting. Louisiana was ice cold in the opening 20 minutes, making just
5-of-27 from the field.
The Aggies led by as many as 37 in the second half and the game was never in
doubt.
The Cajuns shot a lowly 29.7 percent from the field in the game, which let
NMSU off the hook for committing 26 turnovers.
